Meet Steevens Francois, the third grade teacher at Bon Samaritan School. Steevens is also a student studying administration. His long range plan is to study at the Episcopal Seminary in Haiti and become a priest. Steevens is passionate about his teaching job and strives to make a positive difference in the lives of his students.
Steevens is grateful to South Florida Haiti Project’s many donors for supporting the salary he relies on. The unemployment rate in Haiti is a staggering 40.6%. The country also faces widespread under-employment; two-thirds of the labor force does not have a formal job.¹
With help from South Florida Haiti Project, Steevens has avoided becoming a victim of those overwhelming realities. Instead he is a hard-working, successful young professional with the means to chase his dreams of becoming a priest!
